Unique total covering enhances efficiency and improves work environment
On a construction site in the heart of Valby, Platform.as has recently, for the third time in the past year and a half, installed its innovative solution in total covering. This is being done in collaboration with Nordstern, who is carrying out a comprehensive renovation of seven apartment blocks.
Platform.as’ total covering stands out from similar solutions by being installed on top of work platforms. This allows contractors and workers to enjoy the many benefits that work platforms offer when performing facade work, while also being able to carry out roof work in dry conditions.
When working from platforms, the focus is on the work environment. The platforms can be easily adjusted to the correct working height and equipped with a wide range of auxiliary equipment, such as cranes and vacuum lifters. This ensures that work can always be performed ergonomically, helping workers avoid unnecessary strain and wear on their lower back and spine, as well as unsafe working positions that could potentially lead to workplace accidents.
“Once the total covering is installed, the work platforms are first used for replacing balcony doors and window sections, as well as for insulation and facade cladding. On the specific setup in Valby, pulleys have been mounted on the underside of the covering to handle the heavy lifting of items such as lintels and glass door and window sections,” says Casper Gorm Knudsen, CEO of Platform.as.
Conversion to workstations and roof safety
When the facade work is completed, the work platforms are locked at the building’s roof edge and converted into workstations and roof safety that run all around the building. This provides workers with fantastic working conditions, as they are given a significantly larger work area compared to similar solutions. They also avoid the annoyance of scaffold poles and fastening tubes.
The large area at the roof edge also offers plenty of space for storing materials and tools, keeping them close at hand. This means that work can be carried out more efficiently, as workers do not need to waste unnecessary time transporting materials and tools up and down from the roof.
The improved working conditions make a big difference on the construction site. Workers can focus on completing their tasks without worrying about cramped working conditions or the risk of accidents, and they can easily handle large materials around the roof. This means that the work is not only completed faster, but also much more safely than with traditional solutions.
At Platform.as, we are proud to once again set the standard for how innovation, safety, and efficiency can be combined on a construction site, making it an investment in both employee well-being and project success.
“Platform.as has succeeded in creating a total covering solution where work environment, safety, and efficiency are perfectly balanced. Workplace accidents and near misses are minimized, and the execution phase of roof and facade work is streamlined by up to 40%. We see this solution as a ‘game changer’ and a great example of how modern technology and thoughtful design can elevate renovation projects to a new level. It’s simply a ‘win-win’ for all parties,” adds Casper Gorm Knudsen, who encourages everyone interested to watch Platform.as’ video, where viewers can take a tour under the total covering in Valby.
In this exciting project in Valby, Platform.as is collaborating with Barberens Stilladser, who installs the covering after Platform.as’ installers have set up and adjusted the work platforms to support the covering.
