Scaffolding

Scaffolding is often used in the construction industry when work takes place in the heights. Regardless of whether it is construction of new buildings or renovation of existing ones, it may be necessary to have a tool that lifts the employees off the ground. At Platform.as, we believe that the traditional scaffolding has found its replacement. We have therefore replaced the scaffolding with a mobile mast climbing work platform that can do the exact same as the classic scaffolding types – and much more.

SCAFFOLDING SOLUTIONS AND TYPES OF SCAFFOLDING

Do you want a healthy work environment, to reduce the heavy lifting and a flexible workplace that is economical and time efficient?

When you work on a mast climbing work platform during a facade renovation, you do not have to worry about burdensome working heights and unsafe working positions – you can adjust the height of the platform to the work by driving up and down and the platforms are not limited in the same way as the classic facade scaffolding.

You can avoid the heavy lifting and many stairs by choosing a mast climber over a masonry scaffolding solution when you need to transport yourself and your materials up to the mast climbing work platform by driving the work platform all the way to the ground to easily load and unload work tools, materials and waste.

A platform is quicker to set up than a scaffolding for the construction project. The platform is also quicker to assemble and easier to move around compared to scaffolding, masonry scaffolding, facade scaffolding or trestle scaffolding for an entire facade.

MASONRY SCAFFOLDING

A masonry scaffold is characterised by having wide decks, a high load capacity and good working conditions. A masonry scaffold is suitable for many different renovation projects and construction cases. The masonry scaffolding is a flexible and robust work platform that is built in scaffolding classes 2-5; from 150 kg to 450 kg per m2.

FACADE SCAFFOLDING

Facade scaffolding is the most common type of scaffolding used by both private and professional craftsmen for small and large renovation and construction projects. If the facade scaffold is to be used when painting the facade, it is required that the scaffold is at least 0.6 metres wide, while window replacement requires a scaffold with a width of 1.2 metres.

MOVEABLE TOWER SCAFFOLDING

The moving tower scaffold is a small scaffold on wheels. It iis easy to move and is therefore often used for easier work in scattered places and preferably indoors. For outdoor use, the movable tower scaffolding must be attached to the building or other structure if possible. Large and tall construction tasks require a facade scaffold rather than a tower scaffold or small scaffold.

TRESTLE SCAFFOLDING

The trestle scaffold is a great smaller scaffold that is suitable for low and heavy tasks close to the ground. Trestle scaffolding is also known as masonry trestle scaffolding, as the scaffolding is useful for joint repairs, ceiling work, gutters and window replacement. Trestle scaffolding consists of platforms and masonry trestles with a load capacity corresponding to scaffolding classes 3-5, corresponding to 200 to 450 kg per m2.

FOLDING SCAFFOLDING

The folding scaffold is a foldable scaffold that is easy to transport and is often confused with moveable tower scaffold because it is mobile and easy to set up. A folding scaffold has a lock in the middle that makes it possible to fold the scaffold so that it can be easily dismantled or moved through doorways.

CHIMNEY SCAFFOLDING

The chimney scaffold is a special scaffold that is used outside and preferably as a safe, temporary work platform for the renovation and repair of the chimney, dormer, church steeple or decoration on the roofs of a villa or apartment building. A chimney scaffold is designed to be mounted on a pitched roof.

LEISURE SCAFFOLDING

A leisure scaffold is a smaller work platform for smaller hobby and construction tasks at home, but leisure scaffolds include many different scaffold types and are therefore also used by craftsmen. Leisure scaffolding is generally smaller scaffolding such as telescopic scaffolding, ladder scaffolding, multi-scaffolding, folding scaffolding and moveable tower scaffolding, which are used when the gutter needs to be cleaned or replaced or when the woodwork or the ceiling needs to be painted.

SMALL SCAFFOLDING

A small scaffold is lower than 3 metres from the upper edge of the top deck, so that it can also be set up, changed and taken down by people without scaffolding training. Small scaffolds are e.g. moveable tower scaffolding, trestle scaffolding, small masonry scaffolding, folding scaffolding, ladder scaffolding or telescopic scaffolding. There is a big price difference when you are looking to rent a scaffold such as tower scaffolding or folding scaffolding.

LARGE SCAFFOLDING FOR EXTENSIVE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Scaffolding for extensive construction projects is preferably large scaffolding, which is set up by professional scaffolding companies that take the conditions and work tasks of the specific construction case into account. In this way, the professional knows whether the construction task requires wide, narrow or tall scaffolding or extensions such as a material tower or stair tower.

Prior to setting up scaffolding, the conditions are examined and a construction calculation is made. A construction calculation takes the type of material, the ground surface, fastening conditions, loads, temperature, water content and weathering into account.

The same calculations apply when setting up facade scaffolding and setting up the mast climber and hoist. The big difference between scaffolding and a mast climber is that an extensive construction project requires more materials and work time for setting up scaffolding than for choosing a mast climber. Renting a mast climbing work platform is therefore competitive.

Large scaffolding is often used in connection with facade renovation, construction, remodelling, window replacement, roof renovation, roof replacement, sandblasting and masonry work. Leisure scaffolding is suited for the small and quick tasks and less suited for large and tall construction tasks.

SMALL SCAFFOLDING FOR SMALLER PROJECTS AND AT HOME

Facade scaffolding does not have to be a large scaffolding, there are smaller projects such as paint work, replacing gutters or joint creep that require a small scaffold.

Small scaffolding can just as well be leisure scaffolding for use at home, such as a moveable tower scaffold, folding scaffold or trestle scaffold, which are under 3 metres in height and therefore do not require a scaffolding course.

A scaffolding to use at home can be bought at various hardware stores, e.g. XL-Byg, Stark, BAUHAUS, Bygma, Silvan or at Stigefabrikken or Jumbo. It is also possible to rent scaffolding, which is preferable if the projects at home are short-term.

How much does it cost to rent scaffolding compared to buying scaffoliding? You will discover that several scaffolding companies settle on renting scaffolding and promise you that you will save 10% when renting and 20% when buying.

The most frequently rented scaffolding is: the movable tower scaffolding. A small moveable tower scaffold is in the price range for scaffolding rental approx. DKK 110 to DKK 280 per day. A moveable tower scaffold is available in both a narrow and a wide format, which is defined based on the scaffold deck.

In second place we find the popular folding scaffold. A small folding scaffold is in the price range for scaffolding rental approx. DKK 125 to DKK 305 per day.

You must take into account that you are also renting scaffolding accessories such as scaffolding frame, handrail, floor, wheels, support legs and fastenings – which also applies to a folding scaffold.

REMEMBER THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES FOR YOUR SCAFFOLDING

Scaffolding manufacturers and scaffolding products are very different, and scaffolding accessories are not all compatible across manufacturers and brands. It is therefore a good idea to match scaffolding accessories from the same manufacturer or consult where the scaffolding accessories are either bought or rented.

Dimensions and designs are not the same. Layher scaffolding has e.g. flexible lengths with standard measurements of 2.07 metres or 2.57 metres, while HAKI scaffolding e.g. has dimensions such as 1.0 metres x 1.050 metres, 1.5 metres x 2.050 metres or 2.0 metres x 3.050 metres.

In addition to scaffolding decks, scaffolding frames, handrails and footers for scaffolding and fixings, it is also a good idea to check whether ladders, railings, mounting brackets, couplings, brackets, eyebolts and various hooks have the right dimensions for your scaffolding.

There are requirements for the minimum width of scaffold decks. A scaffold must be dimensioned for the work. For lighter repair and maintenance work on the scaffold deck, the deck does not need to be wider than 0.6 metres. It is e.g. painting of the facade. For larger construction tasks such as window replacement, the requirement is that the scaffolding deck must be at least 1.2 metres wide. For roof work, the requirement for the width of the scaffold deck is 1.2 metres at the roof and for gables, the scaffolding must be at least 0.6 metres wide.

SCAFFOLDING OR MAST CLIMBING WORK PLATFORM?

Scaffolding is not just scaffolding, and a lot of scaffolding is needed on a large construction project and knowledge of scaffolding just for the use at home. A large scaffold is time-consuming compared to set up and moving – as well as adjusting and changing the set-up along the way.

A mast climbing work platform is a mobile machine that does not take up much space on the facade while the construction project is underway. The platform provides good, ergonomic working conditions and flexibility, and it is easy to adapt the platform to the construction project as the work progresses.

A work platform can be adapted to the specific work task, so that both width, depth and height are taken care of – also as the work progresses. Several of the mast climbing work platforms are equipped with consoles that can be adapted to various projections in the facade such as bay windows and balconies.

Setting up a mast climbing work platform for a construction project is faster than setting up the classic scaffolding. You can choose to use a mast climbing work platform or to put several work platforms together and thus cover a larger area of the facade. This is a good idea when a construction project is handled by several different craftsmen at the same time.

FACADE SCAFFOLDING OR MAST CLIMBING WORK PLATFORM?

During renovation, your house will be hidden behind the facade scaffolding and your view from the windows will be limited while the work is in progress. This is not the case with a mast climbing work platform, as the platform takes up significantly less space and can be adjusted in height so that you cannot see the platform from the inside after working hours.

MASONRY SCAFFOLDING OR MAST CLIMBING WORKING PLATFORM?

The masonry scaffold is a robust scaffold with a high load capacity and wide tyres, which ensures good working conditions and which streamlines the efficiency – the same applies to a mast climbing work platform, which can also have mason’s consoles installed, which cater for a mason’s different working heights.

The movable tower scaffolding is a really good and flexible solution for smaller and low-level construction jobs, where you need to be able to move the scaffolding quickly and easily to work over scattered places. Where the moveable tower scaffolding is limited in size and load capacity, the mast climbing work platform is different and you do not have to compromise on flexibility.

GET A MODERN AND PROFESSIONAL SCAFFOLDING SOLUTION

Do you need a modern and professional scaffolding solution for your facade renovation? That meets both the needs of craftsmen, increases efficiency and saves you time and money?

Mobile mast climbing work platforms are the scaffolding’s modern replacement when it comes to a professional solution. A mast climbing work platform can be used for all kinds of facade projects with its many flexible options, which provides good work space and withstand heavy loads.

A mast climbing work platform is a safe solution for which it is possible to comply with the Danish Working Environment Authority's guidelines for safety and health, e.g. winter measures by covering the platform and thus being able to continue work in all kinds of weather.

Our covering is made of a wrap that is heat-foiled on the platforms. The covering's material is durable and makes less noise than other types of covering. This means that the covering is stable even in the wind and makes less noise, which is good for the craftsmen and the residents.

Are you in need of a cover while the roof or exterior wall is open? And do you want to insure it against damage from moisture or a schedule that slips due to the weather? We offer a combination of mast climbing work platforms and scaffolding with total covering.
